🌿 Things I Wish Someone Had Whispered to Me Before Sitting With Ayahuasca
There’s so much curiosity and reverence around ayahuasca. And yet, even with all the ceremony prep guides out there, so much of what really matters goes unspoken. These are the things I wish someone had whispered to me the night before my first ayahuasca ceremony—and the same truths I now share with the clients I support through plant medicine integration.
Whether you're preparing for your first sit or processing what’s already come up, I hope this offers grounding, insight, and a sense that you’re not alone.
1. It’s What You Need—Not What You Want
Ayahuasca won’t always give you the bliss, clarity, or vision you might expect. Instead, it gives you what your system is ready to see, feel, or release. The journey isn’t always easy, but it’s always honest.
2. 75% of the Experience Happens in the Body
Many expect intense visuals, but often the work is deeply somatic. You may feel shaking, pressure, tingling, grief, or even physical purging. This is your body releasing what it’s held—this is the healing.
3. If It’s Coming Up, It’s Also Leaving
Whatever arises—fear, grief, discomfort—is not a sign you’re doing something wrong. It means you’re finally safe enough to feel it. What comes up is on its way out.
4. The Purge Is Sacred
One of the deepest lessons I’ve received:
“Purge = Heal, baby, heal.”
Crying, yawning, vomiting, laughing—these are not interruptions. They are releases. They are the plant’s way of helping you clear what no longer belongs.
5. Ayahuasca Teaches Through Sensation
The medicine doesn’t always speak in visions or words. Sometimes, it speaks in waves of energy, body pressure, silence, or deep feeling. Don’t wait for a message—feel the message.
6. Integration Is Where the Real Work Begins
The ceremony ends, but the journey is far from over. Integration is how you bring the insights back to your life—how you make them real in your relationships, habits, and nervous system.
What Is Integration?
Integration is the bridge between ceremony and everyday life. It’s how you live what the medicine showed you. Without it, insights fade. With support, they can reshape your life.
How I Support Integration
As a therapist, coach, and hypnosis practitioner, I offer holistic, grounded support after plant medicine work. I help clients:
Make sense of their ceremony experiences (including difficult ones)
Navigate emotional and somatic aftershocks
Rebuild trust in their nervous system
Align their life with the insights they received
Stay grounded and supported during the months after ceremony
This is sacred work—and you don’t have to do it alone.
Ready to Walk the Integration Path?
If you're preparing for ceremony or moving through the aftermath of one, I’m here to help you integrate in a way that honors your body, your truth, and the medicine’s message.
